How We Test Our Toys

At Rocky Mountain Toy Review, we are guided by three core values: Inclusive. Honest. Pleasure-Positive. These principles shape how we approach every product we review.

Our testing process is consistent and thorough to provide clear and straightforward insights you can trust.

1. We begin by evaluating the packaging quality, presentation, and discreetness. This includes how easy the product is to open and its suitability for travel.

2. We assess the materials used for durability, safety, and comfort. When relevant, we also consider the environmental impact of the materials.

3. We analyze the design for ease of use and comfort during extended sessions. We examine control layout, charging methods, and included features.

4. Performance testing covers vibration strength, noise levels, battery life, and overall user experience. For interactive devices, we verify connectivity and app functionality.

5. Cleaning procedures, waterproofing, and expected product lifespan are reviewed to help you understand maintenance requirements.

6. We consider accessibility, including how the product suits different preferences such as noise sensitivity and grip comfort.

7. Finally, we evaluate the product’s price relative to its features and performance. We offer guidance on which users may benefit most from each toy.

This process ensures our reviews deliver a comprehensive understanding of each product’s capabilities and limitations. Our goal is to support informed decisions in a pleasure-positive and inclusive way.

Yes we are!

We are registered as a Sole Proprietorship in our municipality and have registered our name, Rocky Mountain Toy Review, as a Trade Name with the province of Alberta. We chose to do this in order to keep us above board and ensure that we remain honest and transparent with everything that we do. This also sets us up for long term success as we continue to grow and expand. Should the day come where we choose to release RMTR branded merchandise, we will already be in compliance with all Canadian laws and requirements.

We are not a fly by wire review site spamming you with coupon and pop-ups, we're here for the long haul. 

We select toys based on a mix of personal interest, brand partnerships, innovation, and relevance to our mission of providing inclusive, pleasure-positive content.

Not necessarily. We maintain editorial independence. While some products are provided for review, we test each item thoroughly and share findings openly to support informed decisions. For every brand we work with, we have a mutual agreement that my opinions remain Independent. This ensures I maintain high levels of trust with you.

If we have a sponsored review or article, we will disclose this to maintain transparency. These types of articles I find are often a little too positive to be believable. I find those types of articles and reviews unhelpful for making my own purchasing decisions, so I wont write them. I don't like sneakiness.

If there is a Kickstarter program to launch new products, or a smaller company that wants to generate traffic via toy-for-review arrangements, then we're open to those discussions. All parties would need to agree to adhere to our core values of honesty, integrity, and transparency as well as following regulations for disclosure of any arrangements or partnerships.

I do this because I enjoy it. I work full time and have a family, and those priorities come first. I am committed to growing and expanding Rocky Mountain Toy Review, but understand that it is my passion project, not my primary mode of employment.

Testing time varies by product type, but we ensure enough use to evaluate performance, comfort, durability, and maintenance. Typically I will wait 2-6 weeks before posting a review, giving time to properly explore and test it. This ensures a fair review.

Part of why I created Rocky Mountain Toy Review was due to the restrictive nature of some sites. I can control the content and style here, to give you the best information I can. I communicate regularly with Reddit moderators to ensure we are compliant with our posts, comments, reviews, etc. More sensitive content that would be flagged for removal may be posted on adult-friendly websites such as PornHub or OnlyFans. I'm not trying to be the next big adult star, I simply use their less restrictive platforms to provide better information for you.

Not necessarily. The majority of toy brands we work with produce high quality products which means that even if they weren't right for me, could mean they are perfect for somebody like you! Part of my commitment to being fair and honest is ensuring that the products are thoroughly tested to get a good idea of who they would be best for. Mainly this affects stokers fi they are too loose or too tight. Too much one way or the other could affect my experience, but it lets me know who it would work for. If the product is not body safe or appears to be of poor quality, I will likely decline to review it. I wont waste your valuable time reading something unhelpful to you.
